It’s Getting Close….Time to Register for the St. Mike’s 5K & Kid’s Fun Run!!

The leaves have turned and contrary to the unseasonably warm weather we have been having, Fall is in full effect and the Holiday season draws near.  As November approaches so does Thanksgiving and with that The First Annual St. Michael’s 5K Fun Run/Walk & Kid’s Fun Run!  I know you are all extremely excited….and so are we!  A lot of talk has been heard around town about the race and many have shown interest by saying they are “Going” to attend via Facebook.  It’s now time to get registered and ready for the race!  The quickest and easiest way to register is to follow this link to –>  Additionally, you can send in or drop off a paper form with a check to St. Michael’s School.  Here is the form if you would like to print it off  ->  Turkey Trot Registration Form.  

So now you know where to register.  Let’s get to the fun stuff now.  Here is what you need to know about the event:

-This is first and foremost a fun run/walk with the goal to create a community event where everyone can have a great time and enjoy getting some exercise together, with the added bonus of raising money for a great cause!  Thus, we will not be doing official race timing.  However, do not fret.  We will have a clock at the finishing line and we will be shouting out times when people cross.  Pay attention at the end and you can find out what your blazing fast time was.


– We will be holding the Kid’s Fun Run at 9am on race morning.  This will be after the 5k so that all participants can be present to watch the race.  The kid’s will race will take place right on Keuka Street and will be about a quarter of a mile.  All kid’s finishers will receive a medal for their efforts and special honors go to the first 3 finishers who will get to put a pie in the face of Erika Stork, Matt Curbeau and another mystery guest whose identity will be revealed at a later date.  So how can your child be in the running for this great honor?  Register them online at –>  or via paper Turkey Trot Registration Form.   Additional registration forms and t-shirt order forms will be sent home with the St. Mike’s students as well.

– So be sure to stick around after you run to watch the Kid’s Fun Run.  The raffle and other awards will take place after this race and you MUST be present to receive prizes/awards!


– Even though we won’t have the super official race timing with those nifty timing chips we still want to recognize the champions for their efforts.  We will be doing so by awarding them Special Champions T-shirts to the overal Male and Female Winners, along with a mystery prize….I know you are all dying to find out what this mystery prize is?? 🙂


Not one but TWO iPod shuffle’s will be raffled off after the kid’s fun race which will take place at 9AM.  So make sure to get a raffle ticket and stick around after you are done running. (Raffle tickets will be available at pre-race registration at Stork Insurance on the Tues and Wed before the race as well as race morning)  In addition to the iPod’s many other great prizes will be raffled off included wine for adults, Road ID’s, Dinner at La Cocina, etc…  For those of you who are actually reading this you will be rewarded by knowing that for every Canned Good you bring to us at pre-race registration or on race day you will be given an additional raffle ticket.  So if you want a chance to win an iPod shuffle or any of the other cool prizes be sure to bring some Canned Food!


-Great music, entertainment and MC’ing will be provided by Creekside Entertainment (Steve Ovens), lots of pie’s and other goodies for the post race feeding as well as the running of the kid’s race.  It is my hope that all participants will hang around after the 5k is over to enjoy the tasty treats and especially the Kid’s Fun Run.  Festivities should be wrapped up by 9:30 which will get you back to your Turkey’s at home by 10:00AM..plenty of time right!

-11/5/12 will also be the last day to order extra t-shirts.  If you are registered to race you will get a t-shirt with your race fee, however if you would like to buy additional ones for your friends, family and other loved ones this is the date to let us know by!  Additionally, the t-shirts have been approved by St. Michael’s school for the kid’s to wear to gym class.  So if you want to lighten the laundry load, stock up on a couple extra!  Kid’s are always getting into messes.

-St. Michael’s School has begun their annual Can Drive and we will be accepting any and all donations to this on race day.  As an incentive if you donate canned food on race day you will be given an additional raffle ticket.  The raffle will include the two iPod shuffles mentioned above plus a bunch of other cool stuff that our sponsors have given us.  But you have to stay until after the Kid’s race…who is going to want to miss that anyways!!
