The 2012 St. Mike’s Turkey Trot is Almost Here!

Halloween is behind us, the hunters are out in full force and snow is beginning to fly.  That can only mean one thing, the 2012 Holiday Season is upon us, and with the Holiday season comes…you guessed it Christmas Music!  Just kidding, what we really mean is that The St. Mike’s 2012 Turkey Trot is near.  In just over a week’s time we will gather to celebrate a school, a community and a Holiday together.  We the race committee and all those involved at the school cannot say thank you enough to all those who have signed up to race as well as all our our tremendous Sponsors who have made the race possible.  Take a moment to read through the names below, these Sponsors are truly the reason this race is happening.  So if you see the owners or anyone affiliated with them be sure to say Thank You!

IMPORTANT RACE DETAILS:

PACKET PICKUP

-For parents of St. Michael’s children, you will be able to pickup your packets at St. Mike’s School on Tuesday (11/20) from 3-4pm.

-Pre-Race Packet Pickup will continue to take place on Tuesday (11/20) at Stork Insurance from 4:30 – 6:00 PM and then again on Wednesday (11/21) from 11:30 AM to 6:00 PM. 

-For parents of St. Michael’s children you will be able to pickup your packets at St. Mike’s on Wednesday from 3-4pm.

-T-shirts will be given out when you pickup your packet.

-Please take advantage of the pre-race packet pickup as it will make race morning a lot easier for you and us! (Race Morning Registration starts at 7AM sharp!)

BIG NEWS ABOUT THE RACE SHIRTS

We have some very exciting news to share with you all in regards to the Race Shirts.  This awesome design (shown above and created by our very wn St. Mike’s Student) will no longer be placed on a simple cotton t-shirt.  Instead they will be on an uber chic Dri-Fit shirt that will be the envy of everyone who sees you in it.  We hope that you will wear your St. Mike’s Turkey Trot T with pride!

COURSE MAP

-Please take a moment to visit out website and review the course.  We will have many volunteers on course and it will be well marked, but it’s always a good bet to have an idea of what it will look like.
IMPORTANT – One section of the course (near Indian Pines Fruit Stand) will utilize 54A.  This is the only time that the race course is on a major road.  It will only be for a very short distance but I want everyone to be aware of this and use caution when they are running on this section of the race course.  We will have this section marked off with orange cones and it will be monitored by law enforcement and volunteers!

PARKING

-Parking will be available first come first serve at St. Michael’s Church as well as the Penn Yan High School.  The Church parking lot will fill up quickly, so once it is the High School is going to be your closest and best option.  There is a ton of room at the school.

AWARDS & RAFFLE

-Limited Edition “Champions” shirts will be awarded to the overall Male and Female Champion.  Only two of these will be made, so for those vying for the win, here’s your motivation!

-The Raffle will take place promptly at 9:15AM following the Kid’s Fun Run.  You MUST be present to claim prize.  Each race participant will receive a raffle ticket when they pick up their packet.  Your name and information will have already been recorded.  So this means that just by entering the race you are also entered into our super special Raffle.  Additional tickets will be made available on race morning at the Registration Table for $1/ticket.  You can also obtain an additional ticket when you donate canned goods. Just bring the canned food items to the registration table and for every 5 items you will get an extra ticket.  What this means is that for canned items 1-5 you will get 1 ticket, items 6-10 will earn you another ticket and so on….

RACE TIMING
-We will not be utilizing a timing chip system for this years race.  Instead we are going to go more “old school”.  Here is what’s going to happen, PAY ATTENTION this is important.  Upon crossing the finish line you will be led down a narrow finishers chute marked off by cones and tape.  It is important you stay in the order you finished in, as a race volunteer will be ripping a piece of your bib off which allows us to keep track of who finished when.  Once your bib number has been taken and recorded you will be free to move along and enjoy the Post-Race party.
